Any info on "Austin Self Defense" school in Texas?

...ditto. Plus in Austin with Vandry, Cardella and others there is no point in even going to them for BJJ, or MMA for that matter, if they can't show a fight record or proof of lineage.

Haven't begun the search yet, won't until next week or the week after, but are they the academy that merged with South Austin Gym? I'd like to find a place that provides the best of both standup and ground, since I suck at both =P.

Yea thats us. In all honesty, I think its got the best standup in town. Matt and Nick both have boxed pro, and Nick fought in K-1 max. And the ground game there is good too. There some of the fights on Youtube. Search under like Nick Gonzalez, or Matt Thompson, or Vasquez Academy, that sort of stuff. But of course you should check it out too.

If I'm not mistaken if you join for the MMA, you also get full use of the gym upstairs too.

I think he is teaching in San Marcos now. I've trained with him before, he is a great guy. He is a purple belt in BJJ btw.
