I'm pointing out the humor in how many of today's "martial" artists are afraid of any kind of injury.

Learning to hit a bag without injuring yourself is not all that risky when done properly.
It needs to be done methodically, carefully, gradually.
I have been hitting things for 30 years. My hands and wrists are in perfect shape.
98% of my training is done with wraps. When I use bare hands is is done with extreme care and with strict attention to form. It is never attempted at the end of a workout when I am fatigued of otherwise inattentive.
The person most likely to injure his hands is the person who all of a sudden tries to go without wraps because he has not learned to fight without them. (Mike Tyson is a good example)
Yes, no wraps/gloves is more risky and that is why it requires more care.
I am just tired of the "if you do that you are going to hurt yourself" crap.
My mother used to do that. it's annoying. ;)

Jesus, what time is it right now in Wyoming? like 3AM or something?
Don't you know that lack of sleep will lead to injury?

So basically you agree then? If you hit 98% of the time with wraps and spend some time without them, thats a good idea. I never said to not ever hit a bag without gloves, just that you should most of the time.
Being afraid of injury is a good thing and lessening the chances of it is a smart move.
BTW its 4am over here in NY

Yeah, I don't think we're really that far apart here, fellas. I don't think anybody is saying "gloves are bad". I train with gloves 95% of the time. My hands definitely appreciate the gloves. Also, when I train without the gloves, I personally am not going to be going twelve rounds or anything like that. It's not an endurance exercise. I go gloveless for one purpose - to check my form and maintain my ability to hit stuff hard barehanded. My only gripe is when people try to claim if you're hitting stuff barehanded and not hurting yourself, it's because you have no power. That's BS.

That is the best summary of this thread. Therefore I deem it "Topic Closed!" If you desperately need to add something new to the conversation PM me.
