Ok, I'm leaning towards these puppies (the blue ones are the only one of size 8.5)

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

I would like to say that the deadlift video helped me add an extra what I imagine to be 30-50lbs on my deadlift max.

No. Drop your weight down and do it correctly. The thing about deads is that the number of repetitions should be relatively low. The higher the number the more prone one is to use improper form to make up for grip fatigue or specific muscle group fatigue.

And yes, the tacs refer to boots. Gives a whole new impression to the college kids in the gym that wear the neon colored Nike's who lift occasionally and think they're 10ft tall, bullet proof and possessing more law knowledge than all of Harvard combined.

Well, I ended up getting these ASIC wrestling shoes (the blue ones).

Goddamit. I'm happy with them, and it's true. You can feel the difference when lifting with almost no cushioning in the soles. I did cleans and deadlifts with them, and it was the first time I felt my hamstrings, back and obliques. They were sore, good sore.
