WOW!!! Where to begin. This S.C. Ray is full of something, what I'm not quite sure. I've never heard of his certifying organization and I go back aways in TKD/Hapkido.

My instructor was a South Korean ROK and taught us the hard way. Ran in 2" of snow for 15 minutes barefoot in the winter and on hard concrete in the summer. Our studio was an old gasoline station with very little heat or a/c inside. So the weather outside was equal at times in temperature.

I was taught the old Moo Du Kwan way with heavy body conditioning and strong mental training to boot. When I competed in tournaments it was against students of Fred Wren and Bob Yarnell, not that anyone on this board would know who they are, but this guy might not last 60 seconds.

A major part of the problem with TKD today is that it has become the "soccer" of the '90s and beyond. Instead of the moms being 'soccer moms' now they are 'TKD moms'.

At this point I'm uncertain as to whether TKD students know what to do with their hands outside of cover their face when faced with real confrontation. Because it has been my experience that very few strong WTF schools refuse to compete in 'open tournaments', where face contact with the hands is allowed in sparring along with foot sweeps at the least. If they travel to tournaments in some southern states they would have even more difficulty where groin kicks are also allowed in point competition.

So if even the more skilled WTF competitors would be lacking in this way, I would suggest that Mr. Ray keep his student's in the dream reality he lives and just PRAY when attacked.

I'm from the StL, Mo. area and perhaps I'll take this school for a test drive.

Remarkable job here, everyone. Yes, this is my first post, but I'll add a tiny bit of info on Ray to contribute. However, I mostly just want to let everyone involved in this thread know that even someone in Boston is interested in hearing how this fraud receives his comeuppance.

Anyway, a few things I found RE: ray that don't appear in this thread:

A link to his IMDB.com profile, which of corse lists many of his false claims.

Also, a website promoting his movie:

He's an educated man with no time for your hijinks. He speaks fluent Carny, you know.

And he can talk with a Korean accent, although he apparently can't speak Korean. I'm not sure why he's not a bigger star; there can't be that many average-looking white guy actors who can speak English with a Korean accent. I would think Tarantino and Gibson would be flipping a coin to see who gets to hire him next.

Tim says he's got tapes upon tapes of Ray dancing. We should have them digitized... eventually.
