    Is getting back into Martial Arts for 4months a good idea?

    Hello, I'm about to go on summer break for 4 months. Ive done martial arts for 5 years, and have done martial arts causually for the last couple months at my college. However college is almost done for summer and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to train for only 4 months. Before I come back to college for another year. I was just wondering if you guys think its worth it to only train for 4 months since thats a little amount of time.

    Ok, I just have to find a school now. I'm not going back to my craptastic dojang that converted to PMA. Maybe kenpo, or san shou.

    How about boxing? There are gyms for that all over the place. Also, what clubs does your university have?

    We have a self defense class once a week. Its actually moslty Haidong Gumdo(i know its sword but all the posters say self denfense) and some striking technqiues. The instructor actually taught me some kung fu moves. Even though its ran through a WTF Tae Kwon Do dojang. As for boxing maybe, I like martial arts a little better than regular boxing. But ill look into it.

    Boxing is a martial art. Quite a good one as it happens, considering it's (or perhaps because of) limited scope.

    Boxing IS a martial art and its both effective and good at molding your physique. The only problem I see with it is that it take you a month or so to get the basicas down before they'll put you in the ring.

    Try grappling, Judo, BJJ, Sambo, something along those lines; you can start rolling the first day and you might be able to pick up more in the time frame you have.

    If you only have 4 months you should pick something that is high intensity from day 1 like boxing or bjj.

    Ok, Ill look into it but theres not a lot of BJJ schools near my town nor is there any Boxing clubs that I know of. I guess I should have mentioned I did TKD for 5 years and I hold a black belt in TKD. Ill check out the dojos in my town when I get back and ill post the websites so I can get feedback on that school.
