It's a pretty reasonable figure if you look around.
GLOCK is VERY aggressive in marketing to police departments. They make deals that others weren't willing to make until recently, doing things like buying the department's old guns--and their product is nearly perfect for people who don't train very much or even really understand guns, but want a reliable semi-automatic with a lot of capacity. That's generally the kind of person who makes purchasing decisions for a police department.
Smith and Wesson is back with a vengeance with the new M&P models, and Springfield has the XD, but GLOCK has tentacles everywhere now and they're going to be hard to unseat. Smith and Wesson had to learn a hard lesson. -

Whenever I see the press conference after a "weapons bust", it looks like a real dogs breakfast... 1911's, UZI's, Luger, assorted .38's, .32's etc. They put anything black and scary in the front.
