Gerard Gordoue(SP?), The Nazi?

Remember the Savare guy from UFC 1? Who bit Royce and he was in the International Vale Tudo I think against Yuko Nakai where he eye gouged him but ended up getting heel hooked.

He came up the other night and someone told me he was a Neo-Nazi, or so he heard. That the wave he does before he gets into the ring are suppossed to be Hitler salutes.

Anyone ever hear this? I always thought he was just an ass, but is he a Nazi?

According to him, he's Jewish and the signal he gave was a Savate solute.

His name is Gerard Gordeau. He did do a sort of wave and turn thing with a straight arm--it could look like a still picture of one part of the Nazi salute from WWII, but the motion isn't the same as I recall it. I have UFC I, maybe I'll watch it tonight.

I've never heard him described as a neo-Nazi sympathizer.

The swastika is pretty common worldwide, and Buddhism uses it a lot. It's a dynamic, symmetrical symbol that combines elements of rectangles, squares, line, right angles and a suggestion of infinity and rotation, which is why the Nazis thought it was so neato.
They kind of ruined it for the rest of us, but you look petty if you complain about it.

my cousin's a buddhist from vietnam and has one tattooed on his back and was confused as to why people were weirded out by it when he went to the beach.

That's why I said I don't know why he has it. I just didn't want to type all that. Either way, I think that tat combined with the weird nazi-esque salute gives people reason to wonder.

Buddhist swastikas are normally depicted as lying flat, while Nazi ones are angled, i.e. they're resting on the corner of one of the arms.
