Interesting thing I noticed was that under that karate section, they are doing "the traditional martial art: Chutoku Ryu Budo Karate-Do." Never heard of it personally.
Farther down it states "It (Chutoku Ryu) contains elements of historical Korean Tae Kwon Do, Okinawan Kempo and Shorin Ryu Karate, Japanese Shotokan Karate, Jujitsu, and Aikido, American Boxing, Chinese Boxing (Kung Fu) and Filipino Escrima, as well as a variety of traditional weapons."
Yep, that Chutoku Ryu sounds like a real old, traditional system to me!
BS!!!

Tallpaul, like I pointed out, in the head instructiors bio is claims he holds black belts in like several systems or somethng nuts like that. I guess it's traditional to earn as many black belts as possible.

I think it's that Hatsumi doesn't care about ranks, but he knows that Americans do... Probably those who really want to learn from him, will:
There was a story (sorry, can't quote), about Robert Bussey: Bussey trained a while with Hatsumi & then started begging him for a black belt. This went on for a while. Finally Hatsumi just gave him a belt, and said: "Here is a black belt for you"...
The point being of course that he could have just as well bought one from a shop... -
