I had him confused with someone else. Sorry.

Again, to put my thoughts in context, my experience with him is limited to one seminar.

My main issue is thought there appeared to be little thought behind what he was teaching other than it was what he was taught decades ago at the Oakland JKD school. Having trained in the past in a traditional karate style and seeing all the faults of just doing what's been done for "forever," I want more reasoning/understanding than "here's what I remember being taught at Bruce Lee's school." So tell me some reason why the JKD side kick, while powerful, should require me to turn my back on my opponent. Explain why a JKD punch must be vertical (and not state that you could spend hours telling us why). Maybe there's good reason, maybe not, but at this stage of my training, I want more than be told that this is just the way it was from the "beginning".

Having said all that, He's supposedly is developing his own style, so perhaps my criticism is solely limited to his JKD training.

Best I can say is he's a little different. He was a police chief in a town with only one other police officer.
He claims to have studied with Bruce Lee and James Lee. He has a picture of himself with James Lee. Of course, I have a picture with myself and boxing legend Mickey Ward that doesn't mean I learned to box from him.
I check this guy out very thoroughly. I sparred one of his students (he has a school in the town where my wife works) at the local mma & boxing gym where I train on occasion (morrisons, tahleqawh,OK). He was an out of shape bozo that got pissed with I love tapped him on the jaw with 16 oz gloves, Go figure.

Dill also keeps advertising in the back of martial arts mags that he does distance training with video. Nuff said.

I could be wrong but I think Mr. Dill's Doctorate is an honorary one awarded to him from Northeastern State University for all he has done for the college and the community over the years.

He did however train under the guidence of James Lee, for a short time, but not Bruce Lee nor in the Oakland Jun Fan Kwoon.

Dill's 8th degree Wu Shu rank ahh yes I had heard that...He found a place in China that would cross rank him so he sent them some info and a check and later started adding to his growing list of credentials the Wu Shu rank. I could have heard wrong. He has the certificate to prove it :)

Following Bruce Lee's and James Lee's death Dill the exact opposite to what he was asked not to do.

I've also been told that he had a doctored version so that he could pass himself off as certified but was later caught. I've seen videos of him and he is a complete joke like so many of the people that claim to be JKD.
