Some beta-blockers are very effective for some people in the treatment of migraines and are very inexpensive medications. (Metoprolol is what one of my business partners was prescribed for his migraines.) Talk to your doctor.

And that doctor should be a neurologist.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris -

I read a long time ago that one study found a linkage of food allergies with migraines in 30-40% of cases. Some of the preservatives like BHA & BHT were prominent problems. Might be worth while to get a comprehensive allergy panel done, esp. if you don't have a known trigger . . .

Many foods trigger migraines in certain ppl. Spinach, redwine, old cheese, chocolate. None of these have ever bothered me. I don't get them regularly enough for preventive treatments, and most of the ones I get are from glare off windows and stuff. Changing sleep patterns tend to screw me up sometimes.
noto, I also hate you.
Been to the doc. The doc also suffered from migraines (this matters a lot). He recommended reading a book called "migraine" by Valeria South, RN. Great book.
I've had migraines since high school. They are part of what kept me out of the army :(
If I do have brain worms, I hope they are the kind like on futurama that make me all strong and smart and sexy, and not the kind from the warth of Khan. Those worms seemed to be less friendly. -

I get awful sinus migraines which affect my vision and light sensitivity, but a few Excedrin will usually kill it.
But I think most migraines are caused by Cognitive dissonance.
