Who is attending the NAGA in Miami this weekend? Who's competing and who's watching?
I am about 90% committed, even though I shouldn't be wiht my slacker-ass training and attitude. I think I will be in Featherweight (140-149] novice and white belt.
So who can I expect to see out there?
Those wankers closed pre-reg and no more tshirts included !

I originally said in the South Florida Thowdown Thread that I was gonna compete. However, I fucked up my neck defending a guillotine attempt from half guard which ended up neck cranking the hell out of me last Thursday; been forced to back out as my neck and upper back still spasm and hurt like hell.
Soooooooo, I won't be going down this time. The NAGA Pres, Kip, said he would pull my file and put my preregistration toward the next one so that's cool and I will be down there in June for the next one.
Good luck KurSe. My instructor told me before the last one that I went to that NAGA Miami is particularly deep due to all of the High School and collegiate wrestlers who sandbag it in South Florida. Both my divisions in November (White Belt and Beginner) were won by a "HULK SMASH' collegiate wrestler; he beat me in my first gi match. Don't know how the featherweight divisions will be but the heavyweight divisions (gi and no-gi) each had about 14 guys in them.
Don't sit on the sideline, compete; you'll regret it if you don't. It's a great tourney and there is good talent to compete against.
You'll be able to buy a comp T-Shirt about half way through the tourney for like $10 too.
Good luck to you and all who compete.

Jonas that is a bummer about your neck.. get better soon. I'm sure there will be a few more bullies there but I think they just haven't made it to this thread yet. I have decided to compete, ready or not, as there just aren't that many opportunities to go against a pool this size and at least 5 or 6 other guys from my gym are going to be there as well. Thanks for the tip on the sandbagging wrestlers. I guess the best method with them would be to agressively pull guard to nullify the takedown or do whatever you can to put them on their back?

Yes. I would advise NOT playing from your back with most decent wrestlers.

Good luck Kurse, I was going to sandbag in this one, but I messed up my back last saturday competing in Judo. There's always next year.
