All of the striking books are great, but as has been mentioned elsewhere on Bullshido, just be sure to stay away from his submission stuff.

To watch a video you need a player, usually a PC or some other device. With a book on the other hand, you can read them even when you are taking a dump.

You can read the same paragraphs over and over to get the idea to sink in. You could replay a section of a video over and over as well, but it's let's natural than reading the same passage over and over. Plus, at least in my case, I like to write notes on the sides of the books.

There are things that videos convey better than book (some aspects of grappling, for example), but books work better, at least for me.
Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. New: On strenght standards, relationships and structural balance. Shoulder problems? Read this.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Yeah, I'm also a horrible audio learner. I need to read **** for it to sink in.

Are there any good recommendations for boxing videos?

Stay away from Werner's book. He exaggerates a lot of moves to illustrate a principle. I bought it about 5 or 6 years ago when I was boxing. I hurt myself trying them out.

Boxing Mastery is good and covers most, if not all, of what is in Boxing Start Up.

It covers different styles, stances and punches, and covers the mechanics in a clear and thoughtful way.

Of the few books available it's among the best.
