This should not be an issue unless you only have a single gi. Just as one should not use the same unwashed tshirt and shorts to go the gym every day, one should not use a single gi. You should have at least two.
Also, I believe gi grappling is a safer (a bit) than no gi when it comes to catching or spreading something. Your body is covered by something thicker than a canvas.
I don't have a washing machine in my unit - I have to walk to the shared coin-operated washers and driers of the apt building where I live. **** that **** for my gis. After a class, I would dip the gi in a mix of water and vinegar overnight. Then, in the morning, I would hang it in the terrace while getting ready to use my other gi.
Then, on the weekends, I would take the gis (which were already pre-soaked in water/vinegar and air-dried) and put them in the washing machine, in hot water, with "arm and hammer" and a big handfull of borax. Then I'd hang them again to dry.
You should get an extra gi, or at least an extra jacket (you can get a spared 2nd-hand one in ebay, or ask your class partners if they can sell you a spared one.) The pants dry a lot faster than the jacket, ergo you can get away with an extra jacket only.Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris -
