Time in the gym being the same - I put my money on the boxer. Everytime , all the time.
If a semi-good boxer just beats on kungfuguy's arms he'll wilt , and lose. Boxers are tough. Kung fu guys aren't.

Besides the fact that kung fu is goofy , and boxing isn't ; a boxer trains in 5 or 6 techniques. Kung fu guy trains in 263761 techniques. So boxer guy can land his jab - because he's done it a lot of times . A lot of lot of times , against people trying to knock him down.

Kung fu guy can not physically EVER tune a technique to the point of a boxers jab , or cross.

Erm...I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the boxing champ is going to win. Unless of course the capoeirista is Mark Dacascos.

Actually, good kung fu teachers will point their students towards techniques suited for them. You should know them all, but only master what's going to be useful. If course, a kung fu guy that practices ALL his moves and forms will have no chance.

Because doing a move 10 times is good, doing it 100 times is better, but when you've done it 10000 times, you learned an awful lot of things. And that's a good boxer's jab.

On the OP subject, this is borderline idiotic, and certainly DANGEROUS. It's like they expect suckage from the boxer. And, well, when the only thing you train are punches, you CANNOT in your right mind, if you practiced martial arts for a long time, believe Boxing punches are as slow, weak, and easy to manipulate as this. Else, we'd see that in boxing matches.

A punch from a trained boxer is not something you can grab, divert, or push back with ease.

While there are probably Chinese martial artist who could indeed beat a boxer, chances are Sifu Wong isn't teaching the way to go about it.

This is a very general statement. I boxed for a number of years and have also been doing kung fu for a few years. Our style is explosive and designed for fighting-period. There is no blocking or flashy, goofy junk in any of our sets, just practical effective short fist boxing techniques.
This sifu you guys are criticizing here is definitely full of it though..no doubt about that.
I can assure you that none of the senior members at our club would 'wilt' from getting hit on the arms.
Just ask some of the guys who have sparred with us at throwdowns about our fighting ability.

saying that all kung fu people are not tough and cannot take a hit is a blind, incorrect stereotype. Sure, many kung fu people that do a kung fu to perform aren't accostomed to fighting. This is by far not all kung fu practitioners. Just because most kung fu syles have many techniques doesn't mean their fighters are bad at all of the techniques. Most kung fu schools wont teach you new things unless your old material is up to par, and stays up to par. Sure, the average kung fu students jab or cross wont match a real boxers, but, they may have exellent jabs, crosses, and many other exellent techniques to go with it. Saying that a kung fu student will wince at a hit and run is a claim that is a ignorant opinion, that comes from the source that 'kung fu isn't in the ufc, so is probably weak, and I saw that guy on tv, that stuff won't work in real life. thats kung fu, so I can totally beat your ass." The **** on tv doesnt work, but not all kung fu is the stuff on tv! you couldn't count out the kung fu fighter simply because he does kung fu. In fact, If that fight were to happen, and the kung fu fighter practiced a self-defense style, and trained so all of his many techniques were up to par, he could very well have the upper hand. You would also have to consider the handicap of boxers, kicking(in terms of defense and offense).

Time to break down this ugly mass of words:

This is by far not all kung fu practitioners
    Its just most of them.

Most kung fu schools wont teach you new things unless your old material is up to par
And they show its up to par by dancing. Truely an effective way to tell if someone has nailed down reverse punch 83B.

n fact, If that fight were to happen, and the kung fu fighter practiced a self-defense style, and trained so all of his many techniques were up to par, he could very well have the upper hand. You would also have to consider the handicap of boxers, kicking(in terms of defense and offense).
1: What is a 'self defence' style of Kung Fu? Are you talking about Wing Chun? Because thats a self defence style of kung fu...

2: Boxers don't kick because its not in their sport, its not a handicap, the Boxer isn't going to stand out and let you kick him.
He's also not gonna need gloves or wraps, he's just gonna move in and pound you flat with the four techniques he's trained in for months/years/etc.

3: What handicap in defence? Boxers in general have pretty decent defence or at the very least they've taken enough blows to know how to take them better then most Kung Fu practioners.
