Take into account the difference between the European and American styles of BKB, prize-fighting vs. the scientific (amateur) styles, etc., as well ... but you're right, let's not derail the thread.
On the original topic, I met a guy in Australia about twenty years ago who had developed his own "style" from scratch. He has a medical condition that prevented him from sparring or falling (something about his skin and blood, can't remember the details) but he wanted to be able to defend himself without carrying a gun (illegal in Oz anyway). His big thing was projectiles, especially large coins and pinballs, the theory being that he could deter attackers from a distance or at least give himself a moment to start running. No idea if he ever used in in da 2tr33t, but he had impressive aim and power. -

lol, that's the thing, if someone was going to create their own style for R34L fighting, it'd look nothing like any of this, it'd be hard to improve upon the suckerpunch with beer glass in hand combo. Now I'm begining to sound like an RBSDer, sorry.

I am afraid I have no more hard data on Zulu. He fought basically relying on his impressive strength, and I was told he managed to throw Rickson out of the ring a couple of times before being submitted.
Mainly what I find online are posts on messageboards with no more useful or reliable information, either in english or in portuguese. I thought this was an interesting subject because, well, it DOES seem like Tarracá was created from scratch - Rei Zulu´s boxing skills are really weird, his moves are strange, and it does look rough - although some of his throws would make many a judoka envious.
I only know he claims to have created Tarracá from scratch because I found a very short interview on a blogspot, apparently he still fights and runs a gym where he teaches Tarracá.
Here are some fights from Zuluzinho, what do you guys think?

The Rickson versus Zulu fight is available on the Gracie Jiu Jitsu in Action tape series. Basically Zulu just threw a lot of wild swinging punches. Some low sloppy front kicks and tried to get Rickson in a front headlock. Rickson would take the fight to the ground and end up with Zulu in his guard. After a long time of this Zulu eventually got winded Rickson elbow escaped from the guard to the rear mount and choked him out.
Zulu looked like a untrained fighter to me. He was just massive. Looked like the guy from the Green Mile.
They showed Zulu's fight with the kickboxer. He just got the guy in a front headlock (guillotine) and put him to sleep. -

Those later clips didn't even look like the same guy to me! I thought he was cut in the Rickson video clip...he just looks huge in ones you posted, WingChun Lawyer.

The later clips are from Zuluzinho, Zulu´s son.

Well, I guess that'd be why...
