I had the same exact thing happen to me about two weeks ago, same stretch, same pop sound/feeling. I'm guessing you mean the back of your thigh near your groin is what hurts?

Lots of ice, anti-inflammatories, and laying off of it is what I have been doing. I was stupid at first and didn't rest, and the pain started spreading and showing up in other places on my thigh/knee. PS- I was told that it's a bad idea to do a compression bandage unless you really know how, massage can be good and is easy to do but you have to know exactly what's wrong first to make sure that massage is appropriate, and use ice rather than heat or heating liniments for the first few days.
