Thank you, so it looks like based on your observation he has a possible problem with his temper and because he and his students don't compete its hard to decide if he is putting out a quality product. I wouldn't say that winning trophies at such tournments means a quality product, (just look at musical katas) but if a bunch of people come to compete from a certain school, one often gets a idea about the quality of their instruction by observing how they do collectively.

Personally if that newspaper article is true, and I had a child, I wouldn't let them study with this instructor, but thats a decision each parent must make for themselves.

We're pulling our child out.
I've already located a school in town that my school (in the late 70's)is affiliated with. I'm looking forward to some consistency with a dojo that has the feeling of quiet confidense.

Woah.... there is no reason to hit a kid in a MA class in the way you just described (sparring not included). Especially as a teacher.

You are either a peaceful soul, or one of Geary's cronies. As far aw Im concerned at this point I couldnt care less. Geary, and the idiots promoting him have been crapping in my backyard too long now.

lol, if you look at the original dates this thread seems to be almost 2 years old... So it is entirely possible that he has revamped his website to be a little less "self promoting"...

I'm one of Geary's cronies? You obviously know nothing about me. I've never met the man, or talked to him. But since you're dying to say something, why don't you tell us who you are, then about you're issues with Mr. Geary.

Be aware, like any Bullshido poster you are expected to back up your opinion with supporting facts. "I have seen him practice, and he does x, y, z, incorrectly." Of course its easy togo after someone using a screen name which is why I use my real name on line, it keeps me honest.

Assuming they don't cancel court in Connecticut, I'll be back in two days, I'll be interested to see what you write in the meantime.
