Hah, I was just thinking of doing a review of this school, and lo and behold Ozzie beat me to the punch over a year ago :)
Anyway, this place is top notch, and probably one of the most well rounded schools in the Long Island, NY area. The 3 main instructors are all incredibly technical black belts in Judo, and have all developed their own unique superseding grappling gameplans based on their outside experiences wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu and various other martial arts backgrounds.
As a token Jiu-Jitsu guy, I find every day training here eye-opening as the approach to certain positions is clearly different than what I am expecting, and I need to adjust my gameplan accordingly (Damn you Mike and your incessant throat crushing from Kesa!).
I'm glad to see that now Combat Judo has solidified a formal sister school relationship with Serra Jiu-Jitsu, as now the cross-over between students is healthy for all.

Also to the guy who said that Judo usually costs like 20 a month.....well that's why you never see Judo schools running full-time with a large healthy student base. Why should BJJ get to charge 100-300 a month, but Judo has to work for peanuts? We're not talking about a Judo "club" with a monthly membership, this a real school, that offers quality Judo, BJJ, and soon to have a kickboxing program.

The Combat Judo Academy has been doing well. In recent months we have had people do really well in U.S. Judo Nationals taking 2-Golds, 2-Bronze. At the NAGA World Championships we took 4-Golds, 2-Silvers, and a Bronze. Then recently we qualified the Long Island Region for 8 of the 16 possible spots at the Empire State Games Judo Trials.
So things are really looking up at Combat Judo as of late. Join Us!

With the new location has come a new class schedule and class format. There are now separate Judo and BJJ classes. The Judo classes still have a good amount of ne waza, with throws having a followup on the ground and ne waza randori at the end of every class. The BJJ classes are both gi and no gi depending on the day and the Monday BJJ classes focus on no gi throws and takedowns. The instructors and students do pretty well in both BJJ and judo competitions, winning gold medals at NAGA, the Empire State Games. With Mark Staniszewski recently winning Gold medals at the Pan Ams (Heavyweight & Absolute Divisions). I seem to have forgotten to mention the other great instructors in the main post, Mike Arcuri (Judo Shodan and BJJ Blue belt), Richard Scholl (Judo Sandan), and Steve Maucere (BJJ Purple belt)
