    1. Don't eat before you go to sleep , digestion is a very taxing activity and won't let your body rest
    2. Don't take naps during the day. Get up early like 6am early and take up all day. Force you body into a normal sleep cycle
    3. Exhaust yourself. Take a 5K run in the evening
    4. For your soreness, get some icy hot


    If all that doesn't work there are some over the counter sleep aids.

    First of all there is nothing wrong with you that your actually loosing sleep. With drastic changes in diet and exersize patterns comes drawbacks... one of which is insomnia. As your metabolic rate increases so will your need for less sleep to keep you energized and your diet facilitates your energy needs during the day.

    To combat restless sleep avoid the following:
    1) vigorous exersize (sex is ok just not marathon stuff) an hour before your actually going to lay down to sleep.
    2) heavy meals 1-2 hours before bed (heavy meats take time to digest therefore the body needs energy to breakdown the food)
    3) cold fluids right before bed time (body needs energy to warm the liquid to keep the body at homeostasis)
    4) pets sleeping with you on the bed (believe it or not it disturbes your comfort levels)
    5) an overtly warm room...above 70 degrees.
    6)no alcohol (unless in medicine) in your system 1 hour before sleeping

    to help sleep i recommend this:
    1) Aromatherapy sleep aid spray for your pillow or bedsheets (if your a guy try to avoid lavender; some studies have shown that it shrinks you testies and increases your man-boobs)
    2) A nice hot shower 30 mins before bed
    3) Dark room no visible light (light variences can trick the mind into thinking its earlier/later than it really is)
    4) empty both barrels (bladder and colon) right before bed if possible
    5) Try to blank out instead of wonder about stuff (overnight worries can cause undue stress and cause restless sleep)

    i never said i had problems with soreness..... but thanks anyways Bryan.

    I am going to eat turkey and cold cuts, and will curse in 3 hours if it didn't work.

    I have spread my training to 2 times a day, in the morning and in the mid afternoon.

    I am also going to make sure i never get the job I am interning as, since the terror of being an underpaid nyc guidance counselor is immense enough to keep me up at nite. med school here i come.

    Its always a good idea to watch out for overtraining. A trainer I asked about this recommended taking your pulse every morning. Increasing pulse rates over time is an indicator of overtraining. You can look this up to confirm.

    Like many things, trouble sleeping can be cured with alcohol. This may not be a good idea for various reasons but it works for me!

    Question, what are you doing 2 hours before you go to sleep?

    I use melatonin once in while, 3 mg will put me out. You do develop a tolerance though so I only use it to put me back on schedule. I got was taking it for too long once and ended up not being able to sleep, so I took 6mg and was put out for a while.

    A steady schedule helps to, waking up and going to sleep consistently.

    The stress of not having a job (until today finally) has kept me sleepng odd all month.

    Melatonin, and also ZMA helps quite a bit.
