Random person: Why do you do kung fu?
    Me: Because I like it.

    Not particularly embarassing.

    This is the best part:

In the end, most of the time in RELIGION class in this CATHOLIC HIGH school was spent insulting an art of peace and degrading my dignity.

Since Mr. Jones won't make the obligatory youtube posts, I will. Please excuse the lack of tags as I somehow fubar it consistently.

The problem in Mr. Jones post is representative of the overall problem with Aikido. Training. The **** works, but the people don't because they aren't trained in the environment of an ignorant opponent or resistant opponent. <Insert aliveness speech and Matt Thornton quote>.

In addition to aliveness, there is a fundamental flaw in the curriculum of some "standard" Aikido styles. They do not explain the techniques in terms of principles and physics (levers and fulcrums) but instead of by feeling the move and by watching examples. This creates a HUGE learning curve in the art, especially one that focuses on the subtleties of balance breaking.

Plus that guy chose the wrong technique. When proving a point, be simple but effective. Just Shomenate that teacher and the class will understand (see clip above).
