I know what Bruce Lee said.

I agree about joest's slightly ambiguous phrasing. I'm wasn't entirely convinced he was clear in his own head, however. So I decided to ask him a little obnoxiously. (Tom starts sulking because Asia ruined the fun of fucking around with a newbie caught outside of newbietown.). Regardless, point taken.
Calm down, it's only ones and zeros.

    Sorry dear uncle.

BTW I read "THE STRAIGHT LEAD" by Teri Tom and it wasn't bad.

That's what got me looking into the Dempsey book. I thought it was good but a little heavy on the Bruce Lee nutriding in the later chapters. I've been trying the technique and I lean a little more to JD's approach. At 53 I just don't launch myself through the air the way I used to.

Oh, yeah. Hatmaker covers the lead jolt and the lunge jab in his boxing book.

Really? Which Hatmaker book? I got Savage Strikes, and was a big fan of it.

I think the title was Boxing Mastery. Check in the back of Savage Strikes in the references. I read a copy we had in our local library. He only gives about a page to the 2 punches. Not a lot of detail on how to throw the punch. The Dempsey book is much better and so is the straight lead book if you want to learn how to throw it. It looks simple but it isn't.

    Sorry for the ambiguity.

As for "the straight lead", it isn't so much the BL worshiping as it is the ever so subtle Inosanto bashing that spoil parts of the book for me.

I agree, however the book was very good from a 'how to' perspective.

I remember hearing that Hatmaker's submission books are hackery. Is his writing on striking to be trusted?
