Whatever. Monson (stronger, better grappler) couldn't take Tim out. Randy may have slightly more reach but will that be enough?
Nope. Tim by late round TKO.

Larry Holmes was a boring fighter, but he couldn't be beat for a long time. Sadly, it makes for boring entertainment, but winning ugly is still, well, winning.

I think it will go the distance with Tim winning a split decision.

1. Statistically, Randy wins a very high percentage of his fights when he is the underdog.
2. He is a crafty, sneaky, bastard who will fight at any range that is inconvenient to his opponent.
3. Randy does not get tired....Sylvia does.
4. Sylvia has just started to read the book on grappling....Randy wrote it. If you think Monson is a better grappler than Randy...well, I guess that's your opinion...
5. Randy can box. (Heavyweight champ of the Navy once...IIRC)
However...Randy struggled with the size of some of his heavyweight opponents. He is a natural 220, which Means Big Tim is going to enjoy both reach and weight advantages. FUthermore, Tim's game has been improving every fight. I'm gona enjoy this one.

Randy better be studying Thai leg kicks right this very minute if he wants to stand a chance.

I definitely agree Phrost, someone needs to take away Sylvia's ability maintain his comfortable range in order to beat him. In reference to some of the other posts, I do thin Randy is a better grappler than Monson. I think his takedowns and shoots are more solid and aggressive, and I think that could set him apart from Monson and set him up for a victory against Sylvia. Just my 2 cents.

This is gonna be a snore-fest. Randy in Tims guard, or Tim out of range the entire fight, going to decision for Silvia. I don't think I want to even watch it.

scrapper, every damn time i see your pic, i think of a young pat miletich
as for the topic, i want randy to win, but i really don't see him getting the take down.
Tim will fight conservatively, as usual, and just keep his distance with jabs. His ground skills arent great, but don't forget, he has guys like matt hughes who have great wrestling to work with him, so i'm sure his sprawl is decent, with the reach, much like Chucks strategy
and again, i pose the question. So what if randy wins? then what? KTFO by cro cop.....so i prefer randy to maintain his legend status and not have it go the way of the sakuraba

I wouldn't count Randy out, he's an amazing fighter who has the potential to pull off an upset. The real question is how badly is Tim Sylvia gonna get raped by Cro Cop when that fight comes around.

I agree, I hope Randy loses, because Cro Cop is going to destroy whoever he faces.
Only Fedor can beat Cro Cop, but that is because Fedor is the man.
