Take a look at the fighter salaries from the Pride event in the US
    http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/...=2822&zoneid=3

Fedor made a measly $100,000. Granted the event was smaller, but I imagine that those numbers must be somewhat correlated with what the fighters make when they fight in Japan. It's interesting that the disclosed fighter payout for the recent UFC was almost twice that of Pride's. I'm not saying that I don't wish the UFC would pay their fighters more, but it doesn't look like they're ripping them off anymore than any other organization.

That is a hopeful sign, and so long as there are at least two major fighting organisations the salaries of top fighters should be pretty good. Still, I'm less concerned for the Cro Cops and Icemen of the world than I am the lower tiered fighters. It would be better for the fighters and better for the sport if it were a more viable profession.

It would be nice if the salaries reached the point where more fighters didn't have to work at full time jobs while training for their fights.
Shut the hell up and train.

Bottomline is that UFC is a business. Like all business, UFC will do what it can to reduce it's expense by paying employees (Fighters for UFC) the lowest amount possible while milking them for all their worth without impacting Fighter's morale too much. Corporate America UFC!

As for bonus, there are plenty of research articles in US showing that employees in North America respond better (higher productivity) to a bonus payout than permenant raise for same amount.

Dana is a good business manager and although it'd be great if every Fighter can get paid what they are worth or at least enough to not to hold Full-time job while training. The way most entertainment business is setup that the top 10% get paid the most while rest of 90% eat it and people getting into this business aren't aiming to make a decent living while doing it. They're doing it to get to the top 10% to make that money!

    Sorry for ramble.

I have been out of the MMA loop for quite awhile. Why did Cro Cop and Rampage leave Pride? Did the UFC just offer them more money?

The UFC presumably out-bid Pride for Cro Cop.

Rampage actually signed with a 3rd organization, and the UFC bought his and other fighters' contracts from that organization.

Howard Stern used to be paid $5,000,000 a year by Viacom to put on his radio show and help bring in $50,000,000 a year in revenue for the corporation. (Dunno his current deal with SIRIUS)

That UFC payroll is just ... sad.

Do the fighters have an actual salary, or just get paid per fight?

Like, a contract for x amount of money, + fight pay?
Cause I'm always hearing about how dudes got a 6 figure contract from TUF....and well, something seems to not be adding up. Or I don't get it, which is a perfectly viable answer.
