Ren Bu Kai Submission Fighting - MMA Black Belts?

Found this while trawling the web today: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/crewejudo/renbukai.htm

It's a submission fighting style developed by a 4th Dan Judoka who operates nearby. I'm always open minded and keen to try new styles so thought I might give it a go - but there's a few red flags on this site. Has anyone in the UK heard of this group? They also operate as Crewe Judo Club.

    Red Flags:
    MMA/Submission Fighting Black Belt:
    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/crewejudo...aisyllabus.htm

    Kids MMA class:
    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/crewejudo/kidsmma.htm

On the plus side - they seem to compete fairly regularly, with some decent results. (The instructors' names are frequently listed in the competition results):
    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/crewejudo/events.html
    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/crewejudo...itionhome.html
But some of those competitions are run by the club and their affiliates.

I'm going to be out of action for at least another 2 months, but will try and get along to see what they're like after that. Maybe to save myself the time and effort- Have any of the British bullies come across Ren Bu Kai or Crewe Judo Club at any competition?

    Thanks

From brief look at the site, I don't see any red flags of Bullshido here. Syallabus look like a Judo syallbus with some striking added in, instructor looks legit and it should be easy to check his Judo dan.

Only thing is you probably need to see striking techniques listed there. If it's kick box or MT based type deal or if it's atemi-waza.

What's the difference between groundfighting and grappling? Strikes?

That would be my guess. The curriculum certainly includes strikes:

Purple Belt - Elbow Strike from Mount Position - Knee Strike from Side Mount

*Edited for a complete inability to cut and paste. Dumb*ss!

Elbow block to counter right and left hook
    Kidney punch from mount position
    Knee strike from closing clinch
    Knee strike from side mount
    Elbow strike from mount position
Elbow strike to side of head from opponents guard

They could also mean standup grappling, wich would not be surprising from a Judo/MMA school.

Can anyone overseas look into their association claims and whatnot?
