That punch he always does where he rolls his shoulder up and whips it around in a circle when throwing a punch. Sort of the same motion made with the hip when throwing a chopping roundhouse kick, but only with the shoulder. Kind of an incredibly exaggerated boxing punch.Where does that come from? Is that a wushu thing? I don't recall ever seeing anywhere in a TMA. Is it common in CMAs?I suppose in theory it could throw a lot more torque behind a punch, which would probably be nullified by the additional telegraphing. Did anyone ever see it used in a TMA, or is a Jet Li thing that just looks good in movies?

either way, it is a sucky, non-effective way to strike.

Seriously, just give up. We don't want you. It's not amusing. It's not cute. No one cares. It doesn't take any effort to ban you. Just. Stop.

I don't approve of people asking about crap that Jet Li does in this section, but I'll leave it here for now just in case someone has something that isn't stupid to say about it.

I finally watched Fearless the other night. During some of the slo-mo segments, you can see the mechanics of his punch... Not only is there a body-whipping motion (which isn't necessarily bad), if you watch his fist you'll note that it kind of "flickers" at the end...
Instead of landing solidly, with the two fore-knuckles presented as the primary striking surface, the whole hand tends to "wobble" at the point of impact. It's weird.
I suspect it's due to the cinematic effect of much faster striking versus the far less impressive technically correct punch.
Still, hell of a good movie. It's certainly in my top three favorites...
