Until they give up, yeh. Maybe ease up and give them pointers if need be.

It's also not a matter of slammingthem but you do need to have a reasonably solid level of contact.

No it is relevant for sure. Contact IS needed. And if you are gonna compete, you should certainly be gettin the crap kicked from ya. I suppose I am just in a different place. No desire to get the crap kicked out me for competition that I would never compete in as I am just old now:)

Thats pretty much the deal.

But if we are honest with ourselves, really honest, how many situations do you find that the "self-defense" is really a factor?

Please dont tell me you have a gun pointed from 5 feet away at you and you are gonna shoot in.

Or someone breaks into your home at night, surprising you with 2 buddies with guns and bats and you are gonna do....whatever.

In the limited instances where you would need and it would be helpful, most wouldnt require it.

So yeah, sorry, it is a hobby. For self defense you are better served with a gun and a lic. to carry it.

And I know it is a thought and topic that is beat around in places like this all the time forever, but since it was mentioned here, by me admittedly, I commented.

I have a gun and a liscence to carry it. Hell, I have a submachine gun laying not to far from me. If two buddies with guns and bats break into my apartment then they're probably going to get damn near cut in half :)

Good, I really didnt ant to thread down this line anyway.

Since, i am like you, I possess a gun, training to use it, and not competing, it is a hobby for me. Perhaps a lifestyle aspect, but a hobby. And for drunk people.

That is the silliest argument by any CMAer or Martial Artists. Its a hobby so its okay to wallow in ****?

I don't understand it at all.

CMAers and other so called traditionalist are happy to wallow in ****.
Then they walk around stinking the place up.
They throw **** all over the place.
Then they make **** pie and apple shitovers and get other dumbasses to enjoy the same ****.

Yet, when everything is said and done, its still ****.

All you've done, on all threads, is reinforce the shitty stereotype that many old masters didn't follow.

For every Sun Lu Tang that added weird **** there are Masters who taught fighters.

Yeh pretty much, you never know who you're going to piss off. Kidspatulas dad was a sharp ass golden gloves boxer back in his day and dude would just go to bars and pick fights because he was an asshole.
