Yeh dude, you dont stop when someone gets mount because the person on bottom really needs to practice escaping from there, which is harder then it sounds when someone is punching you.

    Trust me

Pretty much, or until you get out or give up.

Your training partners are there for you to punch with controlled agression so that when someone is trying to punch them with uncontrolled aggression they hopefully have a chance to escape using knowledge they gained from being in the position before.

We are not saying the same thing, i am not saying that bam, he has mount, start over. I am saything that if you have me in the mount, I dont need you slam my face in training to prove it.

Now, trying to get out of the mount while someone is punching you, fine. But at some point they will or wont, right? So keep slammin em until they do?

Then I say have at it guys!

Seems a bit extreme for a hobby but hey, I am just a little wimpy internal CMA practioner building chi balls.

Edit: I suppose I was the same way in capricious youth

You don't have to give the guy on bottom a concussion but you do need to be hitting them with some degree of force to give a reasonable simulation.

Keep in mind that this is more then a hobby for some of us.

Actually the mount is not as hard to escape from as you think, unless they get way up on your chest. The hard contact is a necessity if you ever want to compete so you learn how to deal with it and don't panic in the ring. Anyway, this is CMA, and I don't think this stuff should be here. Thanks for the talk though.

You are using something in your style to relate a point in his style of Xingyi. You are on topic IMO.

Yes, I'll chime in but I need to cool down a bit.

More than a hobby? Although this may not be the thread...

What would it be for you? 2 choices really, hobby or career. And with career it really means fighting for money in which case, best of luck.

But if we are honest with ourselves, really honest, how many situations do you find that the "self-defense" is really a factor?

Please dont tell me you have a gun pointed from 5 feet away at you and you are gonna shoot in.

Or someone breaks into your home at night, surprising you with 2 buddies with guns and bats and you are gonna do....whatever.

In the limited instances where you would need and it would be helpful, most wouldnt require it.

So yeah, sorry, it is a hobby. For self defense you are better served with a gun and a lic. to carry it.

And I know it is a thought and topic that is beat around in places like this all the time forever, but since it was mentioned here, by me admittedly, I commented.
