With the wide range of classes you teach, I kind of figured that. As for the forms, I've read many threads on the pros and cons of forms. I'd just like your personal opinion on them.

Okay if you read a lot two people appear in those threads constantly myself and Omega. So, you may need to read more or you are reading the wrong threads. Heck, there is a thread in here discussing Omega's feelings on forms.

Sorry. Most of the threads on forms that I've read were before I registered as a member and therefore, I didn't pay any particular attention to who posting unless the poster made a very witty or funny remark.

LoL, thanks a million. Everytime someone tells me to go use the search function, I always fail to find the threads they refer to.

Thank you omega supreme for providing history of your martial art training.

What I do not understand is how exactly is the 5 ancestor boxing/wu zhu quan is efficient in your combat/kickboxing bouts.

I personally trained nan/chang quan and TKD since I was 5, and took up TKD when I was 12. While they instilled mental toughness and discipline into me, they never helped me out in fights or cross martial arts sparring sessions. That was when I learnt muay thai and boxing and eventually BJJ.

While I do not doubt there is some inherent value in CMA and TKD, I do not understand how do they exactly contribute to real self-defense and MMA matches.

It's fairly simple, I learned my punching and footwork in kung fu. I learned my basic fighting strategies through my Sifu. I even bring some of my throws from kung fu and my understanding of joint locks. It is what it is.

You have to train CMA the correct way to get a benefit.

    Go look in this thread:
    http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=72258

If you didn't spar or compete similar to the videos in that thread there was little fighting benefit.
