Kung -Fu taught me about energy and has done woders for my health. I'm also starting Tai Chi, again using energy. This whole idea of energy was never taught in TKD (my former style).

In truth, Kung Fu can be used to refer to just about any skill. A chef can have good kung fu, so can a surgeon. Even a BJJ player can have good Kung Fu.

What Omega said about his Kung Fu makes perfect sense in this context.

Kung Fu as used by most people to describe the CMA's is incorrect.
Sorry, it is incorrect in China only.
Unfortunately, in America this doesn't apply. The word kung fu has been connected to any CMA.

Just like MMA pretty much equals grappling, kicking and punching.

It no longer mans Mixing of styles of Martial Arts.

Thank you It is Fake, that's what I was meaning it as. If I wanted to use the chinese word I would have said wushu, and that would have been even more confusing.

But it does not make it correct. Kung Fu is only connected to CMA in such a way because of a misunderstanding or lack of knowledge. Kung Fu and what we know as Wu Shu have taken on a very undesirable name recognition and by using the correct term is part of educating and changing the common view on CMA.

It goes along with the other BS in CMA, no touch knock outs, chi blasts, not sparring, forms only, etc. There is a way of thinking that needs to be changed in CMA and it starts at the basic level.

Yeah, but Americans, and other westeners are very moronic when it comes to stuff like this. When I try to tell the the real way to pronounce karaoke, that jiujitsu isn't synonamous (spell check) with MMA or grappling in general, that kung-fu isn't neccessarily all about martial arts. They don't care. They live in their sphere of arrogance unwilling to change or even try to understand. Even members here on the forum fail to see my point. Except Chuan here. Everybody's like, well that's SAMBO, or that's your Jujitsu, or that's your Judo. No it's my kung-fu.....

    *steps off soap box.

Yes, I understand that but, it doesn't take away what has happened here in America. I agree with what you both have said but, it is in minority.

Notice, I said unfortunately. Never said you were wrong.

I know what you're saying, and I'm not saying you're wrong either (jeez it smells like fucking MAP in here), but it's that mentality that allows this **** to go on so I decide to be in the minority and try to educate the idiotic masses.
