In general, no. But, you have to be smart. Obviously, you haven't. So, considering what you've done already to your legs, yes stop... at least until you heal. Then build up more slowly to a level of intensity and allow your body to adjust at each step.

Occasional and minor bumps, bruises, and sprains are one thing. What you describe is beyond that.

... and use shinguards more often. Don't worry about whether you look like a ***** wearing them. They have a place. If your school would rather you not wear them and/or go too hard, too soon and too often, find another school because the one you are in is essentially rubbish.
