So emboesso, whom I believe is just a mediocre troll, has -- in a generic effort to stir **** up -- pointed out that the use of the flag of the People's Republic of China in our forum logo is an issue. And without speaking about how MA was regarded during the Cultural Revolution, let me just say this: Modern Wushu.

So lemme ask you this, if we were to change the flag in the background in the forum logo, what would you suggest?

I don't think it's a big deal either way. On top of that I have zero knowledge of CMA's and will probably never post here. I voted "who cares."

If you want to pick a different flag, you seem to have an abundance of choices:

I've been reading some of the history on Wikipedia and it seems like most of the various rulers where beset by trouble and personified by human rights abuse. where there ever any "nice" rulers in China? SO far it seems the ones that came the closest where the Han dynasty.

I would be curious to hear the opinion of someone that is actually Chinese or from China. Otherwise, screw it. I say just leave the flag how it is since that is the flag that most people identify with China.

i would suggest using something other than a flag. a couple of distinctively chinese weapons, perhaps, or some representation of traditional animals or elements (or elephants, but that's another show). maybe get the bull (what's his name?) dressed in black silk?

Well we only have 3 icons at this point, and the styles are only grouped by country of origin until there's enough discussion to justify individual style forums.

So we have options here, assuming Wolf doesn't mind doing the work. Maybe scrap the flags completely and have a Bully in traditional dress of the region with the country name in the local language?

Actually, I have to say that I think the Bully in the gong fu zhuang is fantastic. As emboesso also mentioned, excluding North Korea is also somewhat problematic. So, yeah, I think traditional dress is great.

Of course there's the issue of traditional vs. simplified Chinese characters . . . Do you like how complicated a simple little thing like this can become?
