    Cleaning yer gear

So i'm kind of curious what steps people take to clean their stuff.

So far i think i've had my gloves for 3 years, and i haven't really dont jack to clean them up at all, other than to make sure they air out.

My mouthguard i soak in listerine every now and then, to keep that minty fresh taste =)

I'm not sure what to do for my shin guards, they are leather plus padding, but the padding part is starting to look a little unclean.

And of course, i have white handwraps, so i've had to wash those often before they turn into nappy black handwraps.

    Anybody do anything differently?

Wipe down the leather and vynel stuf with warm water and a touch of bleach, then letting them air out. I rinse my mouth guard with water after every practice.

You just rinse it out with water? Your mouthpiece I mean. I wash it with soap and a sponge before every use. Most times I use a Q-Tip to get in the air hole (its a double sided mouth piece) as I sometimes get some blood or whatever stuck in there.

As far as the handwraps go how can you NOT wash them after every use? They are just sweat soaked rags when you are done with them I can't imagine using it without a washing.

Handwraps - soak in dettol solution then machine wash after every use. I find that if I just toss them into the washer, the bacteria they pick up from the inside of the gloves will find their way to my other clothes, which make them smell when you sweat during training.

Gloves - blow dry with fan, and sun. Spray with boots shoe spray once in awhile

Mouthpiece - just wash with soap and water after every training session

Shin pads - mine are the cloth type, so I just put them in a wash bag and machine wash

MMA gloves - just air dry and sun

Thai style groin cup - I just wipe them down. I'd like to know what others do to clean this.

Hahaha very freakishly clean, I have been training for about a year now and I washed my hand wraps for the 2nd time last week. I just usually air them out and alternate between two pairs of wraps.

I never cleaned my gloves or shin guards but my hand wraps were washed every time I used them and rinsed my mouth guard under the tap.

Ok if you can't keep your hands up because your wraps/gloves stink too much, it's time to clean up. If I can smell your gloves/wraps you're a nasty **** and you need to wash.

wraps - washing machine. Note - no white under armor in the wash with cheap yellow wraps.

gloves - air. lysol when they get funky. 409 to clean the outside of the vinyl if there's **** on it.

mouth piece - dishwasher if it's dirty or I bleed on it.

Thinking about it the **** they spray in bowling shoes might be good for gloves.
