Art of War Fighting Championships- MMA in China (bout time!!)

Here's the link, guys. It's brand new, but let's see how it goes. Personally, I'm excited and looking forward to the quality of fighters out of China.

Let's see how it all goes.

    Art of War Fighting Championships

They seem to have simply lifted Pride's ring rules (yellow card n' all), so it's not bad thus far. I haven't seen any footage though.

I'm glad to see that MMA is taking off in China, but at the same time everytime I see something like this out of China it pisses me off!!

I went to some friends of mine in China in 2003 and tried to get their support and backing to start an MMA organization like Art of War in China. You know what those idiots told me? "Chinese people don't like this kind of fighting." "It won't be successful" Wah, wah, wah. Now here it is 4 years later and this org is getting ready to take off big time. I easily would have had these guys beat by being the first one in, in 2003. ARRGHHH!!!

It might be, as was previously said, mostly just Pride in China with a new name (rules wise that is), but I'll be interested to see the Chinese MMA scene.

Actually, there is a guy there named Andrew Pi, Purple belt in BJJ who started his own BJJ school in Beijing - I understand he was instrumental in getting a lot of the interest going in MMA in China. All started when he submitted one of the SanShou guys there in a challenge match. His website (in english) is

    http://www.baxiroushu.com/ver2/

He has a stable of fighters who have competed in Art of War, and other MMA events in China, I believe. Next time I go to Beijing, I am definitely dropping by.

Yeah, I know who he is. I've never met him but I know at one point on their website he had vids up of a bunch of MMA matches that were fought in his school. Sanshou and Wushu guys fighting him and his students. He was still a blue belt at the time, it was probably in 2002 or 2003. All of the BJJ guys won their matches fairly easily as I recall.

The vids on the Art of War site don't seem to load for me. 10 minutes and I got like 12 seconds of fighting. Anyone else get this? There is an English site BTW.

I had no problem with the site loading in english but the video I watched stopped halfway through.

Double click it and it will open directly on youtube

I was wondering when/if an MMA leage would immerge from China. Can't wait to see some of the new talent it has to offer.
