It looks neat. Andy Souwer nailed Masato with something like that in the last K-1 MAX finals and it looked like it hurt.

Nah, if they just stand there you nail them with your knee. Even if you're fighting Oly rules, since you were going for a kick and the knee was "accidental," you won't get penalized (or at least you shouldn't if the ref is any good). You won't get a point, but you'll get your point across to the other guy that he better move next time. I actually caught someone in the head with my knee in a tournament once and nearly KOed him when he was trying to move in for a punch after he blocked the first kick.

I'm just starting to get these, but only the rally good guys seem to be able to generate decent power for the first kick. The second is the money shot. The TKD version of a jab cross.
The guy in the gif must have got it from TKD though.... looks where his hands are!!!! dur dur dur!!!! -

Tekken probably lifted it from TKD, too. The key to getting power on the first kick is to drive hard with the knee and fully turn your hips just like a regular round kick. Thats what I have a hard time with, because when I commit that much to the first kick it makes the second one seem like it takes an Ice Age to come around. FWIW, though, the idea of going for a leg shot with the first kick seems like a much better idea to me than the rib shot, especially if going for the lead arm side first.
