I used to believe that I could kick people way up into the air, above my head, and they would fall half a soccer field away from where I was standing.
I also used to believe that I could, one day, spar against a whole battlefield of soldiers (like, more than one hundred) and come out victorious and not even tired.
I used to watch too many martial arts movie.
I was never that delusional.
You ever think that three 'slow-witted street thugs' would be easy to handle with a small amount of training, even if they had knives or baseball bats? I did, until I started reading about the reality of MAs and fighting...

I didn't really get the chance to have any misconceptions about the Martial Arts. Everytime I would bring one up, or mention one to my Old Man, he'd show me how it was wrong in the way only a real father could!
BY BEATING IT INTO ME.
"Dad, a Karate Master could beat a Boxer because he kicks, right?"
Come here, boy. And try to kick me.
The Old Man moved out of the way of the kick and nailed me right in the chest with his fist. I found out what the floor felt like.
I told him about the registering hands rumor too. He stated that he's been in wars. He's ACTUALLY KILLED PEOPLE, yet his hands weren't registered. Certainly puts it into perspective.
Then there's when we talked about Ninjas.
"Boy, the only good Ninjas are turtles. Everyone else are morons or liars. Seriously? A 'once secret art that apparently every Gaijin knows'? Give me a break! I COULD DESTROY THOSE MEN."
I used to believe, even tell my friends, I'm a little guy, so I end the fight fast so it doesn't get to the ground. That sounded so cool...... until a fight ended up on the ground
I used to believe I could dislocate someone's head with one kick.
Some of these are dam crazy!
i was never that delusional. However i did used to believe that boxing was number one and all other martail arts were crap and a waste of time.
Boxing is still my fav but i respect other arts now.
i used to believe that there were fairys down the back of my nans garden.
I used to believe i could one punche any one (karate black belt) then i was throw down, i said to my teacher... soooo if this hepens in the street what? well you get up its not honorable to hit some one when he is down... so no more karate for me i go to JUDO
I used to believe Judo was all i needed in the graple department (Judo Black belt) i knew how to hit and kick i was dangerous, then i saw BJJ.... so no more Judo for me
I used to believe Bjj was the uber maximun martial art (Bjj Purple belt) then i saw FMA and i asked my teacher in Bjj ok sooo if some one has a knife how can you defend??? some BS technique later no more Bjj for me
Now FMA (Guro)
