Not as easy at it sounds to be dude. Just like people hitting plateus in their benchpressing, people can hit a plateau with losing weight, even with a good diet and a training regime. Also take into consideration that extra cardio MAY cut down your time in training, and if you are in a tight schedule (.ie. preparing for a fight), that can make things complicated.

Sometimes it's better to take something that helps you along the way than to overtrain or cut your carbs/fat intake too much. That's a good recipe for a crash down.

Going back to the topic. I've used Hydroxicut in the past, not as much to lose weight, but to help me reduce by body fat % (on top of all the cardio and weight lifting I was doing back in college.) My goal was to get a six pack. And so I did.

But I ended up feeling just weak, despite the fact I had a sensible diet and I was not overtraining (afaik). Anyways, I stopped taking that so often. My 6-pack went away (though I was still lean as usual), and I felt much better/stronger/healthier after that.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Is it wrong to take a substance that doesnít cloud your mind, isnít habit forming (this doesnít apply to many weight loss substances obviously) and has side effects you can live with? and what wrong with that substance having a desired biological effect.

Anyone applying the term 'natural' to you is obviously using the term loosely, mutant.

Wrong? Perhaps not. Excessive and superfluous? Quite possibly.

Lets abstract away from the weight loss point. Lets look at muscle gain. Would it be excessive for someone who weight trains to take a Creatine supplement in hopes of getting more from his workouts?

Possibly. Sometimes the extra muscle mass is a waste of time, energy and resources.

So wouldnít it then be advisable to maximize the result so as to make the transaction of time, energy and resources to minimize the waste.

No. The entire enterprise is superfluous. Muscles are for losers.

    *takes breath, stops smirking*

Now, being serious for a moment, I'm not sure the two cases are like.

To my mind, it's more conceivable for many people to keep putting on weight, than it is for this group of people to lose it. If they're plateauing, there's probably a good reason for that, and anything further is likely to harm them (see El Macho's account).

My position is also influenced by my suspicion that prescription drugs for weight loss are a huge industry in the US (I haven't got the figures ready to hand, but I think they're huge - ironically). Perhaps I associate the need for enhanced fat loss as somehow a mix of pathological vanity, self-manipulation (of a mechanical kind) and the commercial creation of false needs.

I'm sure there are cases where it's necessary, but I suspect they're few and far between.
