It's not cheap to go to Bally's. Plus, I think you have to pay more to do the MA class, but I'm not sure.

They have clubs in Florida, Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas and Minnesota.

Pretty much the case with any JMA or KMA with belt ranks.

It's pretty hard to get a 7th dan anyway from the WTF, so this is not an indicator of being a black belt mill.
Ok, then. I've only ever really looked into Judo, and the "deputy" ranks looked a little off to me. Does three years to attain black belt (as their site all but guarantees) sound a bit short, or is that the norm? Does someone live near enough to one of these to find out how much belt tests are, or if they are included/required at all?

Hey, I'm impressed. She's cute and she has a sword!:icon_thum
Well, can't really argue with that. :icon_wink

According to the site, that seems true. They do provide their pricing structure for advanced (black belt) students:

    Pricing/Sessions:
    Black Belt Instructor
    8 session package = $320 ( $40 per session )
    4 session package = $180 ( $45 per session )
    1 session = $50
    Master
    8 session package = $400 ( $50 per session )
    4 session package = $220 ( $55 per session )
    1 session = $60

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Damn that's expensive, cute chicks aren't worth that much. Hell, you should just do MMA. Then hit on the cute chick who does the class with her boyfriend. Use your skills to kick his ass and impress her. She dumps him cause he can't fight. You get laid. Everyone except the ex boyfriend is happy.

In many WTF TKD schools, the red-and-black ("eldomino" or something) belt is a sort of placeholder belt you give children that have met all of the requirements for black belt, but are not old enough. I'm not sure what age this is, but a girl at my old dojang had one and she was about 12 to 14.

The rank before black belt in these schools is red belt.

    Edit:
But yeah, I have seen schools where the red-stripe rank before black belt is given one of those fancy red-and-black belts. Looks fancier! Impress our friends and terrify your pine lumber.

I've got one of these at my Bally's. The head instructor is a graduate of Kukkiwon and has his certificate displayed in his office. Real nice guy. Not much english, but, very humble and polite dude.

I didn't take the class, because I've already had my fill of TKD and HKD in my youth, so I can't comment on that. But, it barely started last year, so, the students aren't very impressive. Though, I'm sure over time they'll improve.

Sidenote: I saw the head instructor take down one of the personal trainers (real big dude) pretty easily with a HKD immobilization technique...so, hopefully there might be more legitimacy to this program than meets the eye.

You have some experiences in the arts in question. They are close to you. You are in a very good position to check it out further.
