God dammit Der! Why do you always have to derail my threads with statements like that!

For the record, Gen Choi was not the only person in charge of creating patterns and refining the art. There was a number of people under him who were adding, changing and modifying as the sport grew and developed. One of these people was GM Park Jung Tae. I can say with a great amount of personal experience that throws and grappling where not taught in TKD curriculum in ITF (the group which Gen Choi headed up for a long time) and GTF (which was GM Park's org.)

Can you go back and look at a movement and transpose another on top of it? Sure. Does that make it the right interpretation? Not always.

I have a hard time believing that after 20 odd years of TKD experience I didn't come across these 'secret' techniques especially considering who it was I was training with.

It seemed a bit Ninjaish for you.

This would be my view on the whole thing.

I had a looksee around the forum and Anslow might not be about as much, apparently he (Well, not him but his wife/girlfriend/SO) has just had a baby.

    - Oh, well. The link is there for them to use should they like. I figure this is a good forum for them to check out as we're all on our bestest behaviour!

Is this the book? The one with Osoto-Gari on the cover? So the Koreans invented Judo?

Po Eun has two low side kicks. There are no high side kicks. Kwang Gye has two double side kicks and two front kicks.

That's a shitty Osoto and I would dare to say maybe an Oguruma. Either way you try coming at a Judo player like that you will have your knees on each side of your head from the counter Osoto.

Oldman the version I was taught didn't have the high kick in it just one low kick to each side. I was in the UST Allaince which was a break away group from the ATA when they changed forms systems and they stayed with the chunji set with some differences. I went to a USTF tournament once and saw that the patterns had some differences. The version of toigye we did was an ax kick then the double outer forearm blocks. While at the USTF tourney it looked like a stomp kick with a double outer forearm again gay as hell. Ah memory lane someone put a bullet in my head please.:qleft6:
