Toes all black after MT pad work?

For those that do muay thai, after some rounds of padwork with kicks, do your toes go black?

I thought I'd get used to it in the beginning but still haven't. The next day there's a dark patch on some of the toes, looks like internal bruising. Not sure if there're long term harmful effects. Hurts too.

Anyone else has this problem?

you are kicking with your foot. stop it. or, you are kicking and your foot is wrapping around the pad and hitting with your toes, in which case you need to stop being a limp ankle ************

I was wondering the same thing, was I standing too far away from the pads. But I looked carefully at the way my trainer held his pads, and he was holding it in an inverted V shape (if the trainer were to look at his own pads) with the insides of the pads touching the top of his belly pad.

I don't think there's anyway that my toe is not going to contact some part of the (thai) pads.

Do your toes hit the pads when you kick?

Haha Wtf? I think you must have soft girly toes, my toes sometimes hit the metal clip at the back of our kick pad, it hurts but no black toes. If it is seriously annoying you could try pointing your foot so it doesnt wrap around the pad, and if you kick correctly your foot shouldnt really hit anything.

I get black bruising along the top of my toe's if I'm being a retard and clip my heavy bag with my foot instead of my shin. It doesn't seem to matter which part of the foot hits though, the bruisingin is still on the top of the toes.

plus you might just be one of those who bruise easy, i wouldnt worry about it; work on getting your distancing right though coz if you dont, one day you give you instep/foot a proper bang and then you will have a real shitty pain on you

lots of people i know hold them like this and i have no problem with black toes... maybe your toes are just weak and need to be culled :p
