The two scuffled and the burglar ran from the home, barefoot and pantless

Pantless burglar bolts from scene after dust-up with N.H. homeowner

DUBLIN, N.H. (AP) - Police had hopes of literally capturing a burglar with his pants down after the man came off second best in a confrontation with a local homeowner.

It didn't work out that way, and the would-be thief was still at large two weeks after the unusual incident, officials said on the weekend.

Police said the owner pulled a gun after discovering the man in his house, fired a couple of warning shots and told the intruder to shed his pants and shoes.

The two scuffled and the burglar ran from the home, barefoot and pantless.

"I believe his thinking was that by taking away the suspect's pants, it would slow him down or prevent him from trying to get away, or make it easier for us to find him if he did get away," New Hampshire State Police Sgt. Christopher Aucoin said.

The homeowner called police, who swarmed the area with search dogs, but they were unable to find the suspect.

    The homeowner wasn't hurt.

    1. Neat, having a gun at home hoped.
    2. Into what did he fire warning shots exactly? A vase from his mother in-law that he didn't like?
    3. Haha we made the gun take his pants off!

I've always thought that if I get in a fight with some asshole, and decide to be humane and choke him out rather than knocking in his teeth or breaking his arm, that I would definitely steal his pants and shoes to teach him a lesson. That's the problem with choking someone out. There's just no real repurcussions other than a little disorientation after they wake up.

But if they wake up with no shoes, and in their underwear...
