I know this guy around town who used to take JJJ but then told everyone he was looking for a Kung Fu school because he was looking to learn about his "energy". He also added that he quit jiu jitsu because he wasn't bettering himself by doing it. Apparently Chi-wizardy is better.

LOL. No way! I have a friend that I argue with about Wing Chun. He thinks its the **** even though he only studied it for 2 months about 20 years ago. He gives me all the classic arguments for it. Such as:

"WCers don't have to fight to prove themselves."
"The techniques are to dangerous for competition."
    "Bruce Lee did it!"

Whatever. Now if my friend did boxing or such and then took WC and thought it was the **** I'd love to hear his reasons why. Just a perverse curiosity on my part.

This thread has been posted on the wrong forum, you won't get many takers. The correct forum is www.martialartsplanet.com

I was wondering that myself. However, concidering how many posters I've seen here with TKD, WC, VT, Aikido, Hapkido, Kung Fu, Ke?po, etc in their style field I thought there might be someone who could explain why they prefer their style.

The bujinkan love to tout the example of Nagato leaving kickboxing and judo for the ninjerism.

Most of them think they're doing alive training, whether they are or not is debatable.
But that's what they'll say (except for the few honest LARPers we have here).
It's only on MAP that you'll get comedy responses like "it's deadliness is in it's subtlety, I realize now that kickboxing is a primitive, hard-style martial art and the softness of [insert bullshit art here] is superior"

Try posting a similar thread on MAP as an experiment. I'm not advocating trolling though, just suggesting you get some different* points of view.

I made that one up, you can find much better from the LARPers themselves.
