The other member's are offering some good points but I'm sure they will be suspecious if you come out and say it like that. I would suggest using scenarios as a means of fleshing out some information. One such would be:

Their responce would let you know if you use the "Anti-Crapple". -

When I play dumb I use the old 'my friend says this' line.
This allows you to say anything to them to gauge their response and still see you as a noob.
Example. "My friend says I should only train somewhere that does full contact sparing." or "My friend says grappling is a very important part of self defense." or "My friend says people in the UFC never do kata and are better then people who do kata." -

If you want to appear totally new at this, before they have a chance to answer, say, "First of all, what's kata?" This takes any pressure off them and turns a "hardball" question into a "softball" question -- it's good when doing investigative journalism to move from the easy stuff that isn't confrontational to questions that may appear to be testing what the interviewee believes.

Problems, the temple kung fu location nearby appears to have been bought out by its neighbors lazy day raft rentals. I went inside, what was the training floor appears to have been converted into a work shop. Dragons and what not are still on the walls but the floor is bare concrete and area is filled with large power tools and raft paddles. Most strangely I saw no one.
The web page is a 403 error.
