    Legality of throwdowns?

When y'all do throwdowns, what exactly is the legal concept that prevents it from becoming "assault"? Is it simply that thing where participation in sparring (a full contact sport) implies waiving from the event organizers and participants liability for injuries incurred? Or is there more stuff involved?

I've tried the search function. Didn't find anything.

    Thanks.

If two consenting adults/parties meet together then there are certain limits that can be met before any assault legislation becomes active.

You cannot do anything that wold endanger the life of another or cause unnecessary risk of injury, but legitimate sporting competition qualifies as a defence.

At least it does for the U.K. - I can't see most places being much different

I propose having all attendees of throwdowns present identification that will be cataloged in a secure location so that if anyone presses legal action after consenting to hard sparring the Bullshido ex-ninjers can exact our revenge by using their skills to hunt and kill the bitches family and friends.

I thought people became ex-ninjers when they realised that being a ninjer means they have no skills. Aside from 13 levels in Cult Follower. Is that what you're proposing, that all the ex-ninjers mix up batches of Kool-Aid?

    Throwdowns are just sparring.

If sparring was illegal, this forum would be about the BS of Scientology or something.

At what point does sparring become a fight?
Kikkoman's dumb challenges strike me as borderline illegal.

Wouldn't posting an acceptance on these forums preclude legal action as an understanding of the event and acceptance of the consequences? It seems, to me at least, as long as the records of the challenge and acceptance are documented losers would have no legal recourse except to suck it up and take their humiliation like adults.
