    In a lunge position, jump up and scissor your legs in midair, and land in the lunge position with the opposite leg forward. That's a split jump, good for sports that require you to be in a split leg, or combat ready stance. You don't have much power in a square legged stance, like a Karateka. Even when you stand in Judo your feet are closer together. Train how you fight.

    Why not go for a run in the local neighbourhood and use your martial arts abilities to fight crime... you can get quite the work out. Wear a gi made of pink like Gene Lebelle and you will really get some exercise!

    Mountain climbers are also called alternate squat thrusts (I think) if that clears things up.

    It fees like it makes the muscle work harder and plus treadmills do cushion more put to save your knees for old age just run on some grass. I have a question for anybody out there. Is fish body oil really good for your joints or is there any other supplements out there? God I love having an office job during the day and hustle the arts for myself at night. It feels so great.

    Have been trying this every other day, only problem is the knees. Guess I need to find some better shoes or a softer surface.

    Those are good observations. Also, check the way your foot strikes as well. Running heavy and striking hard is also a bad way to run. I go lightly but, swiftly. I don't strectch my steps out but, do fast almost choppy steps. That's my way and may not be yours. Muscle endurance training such as squats and lunges are good to strengthen legs for running. Don't just do one. Change up. Long run low intensity muscle failure. Short run high intensity muscle failure.

    If you live near a beach those are great for running.

    Sand can cause more problems then it cures. The instablility increases the risk of ankle, knee and hip injury. Among many others. You need to condition your joints for heavy excersise. especially if you are not acustomed to it. Start with a lighter exercise regime and work up to higher impact movements. There may even be an undiagnosed medical issue here. Pain is the bodies way of telling you something is wrong. Ignoring it and or toughing it out is not adviseable.
