    Wushu school

Does anyone know of any wushu schools that teach choreography? I know that's a funny question, because as far as I can tell ALL wushu schools I've visited teach choreography, the problem is they don't admit as such and try to pass it off as some form of sparring (?).

I'm looking for somwhere that would teach in a similar way to a theatrical fencing school. 'Martial Arts fo the stage' type of thing. Have any of you seen anything like that, or even done something like that?

I've seen that kind of thing before, but I don't know of any actual schools at the moment. They are out there, though. Keep looking, and also you might (just maybe) find one if you search on here because I've seen a couple mentioned here I think but I can't give you any guarantees.

Are you looking specifically for a wushu type of choreography, or just trying to get a wushu school to admit that it IS choreography?

Where are you at geographically? There is a stage combat studio in Atlanta.

Also, check the Society of American Fight Directors. It's for stage combat people and they should be able to help get you in touch with someone in your region.

    Hey Obi.1,

Have you checked out Yao Li's gym on Boylston STreet, the program is primarily focused on performance based wushu and Yao is a really nice guy. http://www.taichi.com/index.htm

There is also a wushu club at Harvard that I have heard is good at performance based forms.

Your best bet would be to hook up with Jason Yee next time he's in Boston (he's from here so he visits fairly often), he's currently in LA working in the movie industry and he has good fight choreography experience, look him up on his website and he could point you in the right direction. http://www.jasonyeekungfu.com/
