Anyone have experience training with a PowerBreathe ??
My brother, who finished a sport science degree 6 years ago and immediatly got a completly non-related job, bought me a 'PowerBreathe pro' for crimbo.

I've been using it as per instructions since & it has made me stiff in some odd ways.
Anyone train with one or with a similar product?
Any ideas on other programmes than the twice a day 30 breath protocol on the box?

I think that's the silliest product I've ever seen.

Roadwork works all kinds of muscles and joints that I would rather abuse doing MMA, but I'm not convinced that thing would work.
It SHOULD tighten you up in an odd way, it's like power lifting for your lungs.

well the best benefit for such a device is if you compete in a sport like freediving. we used to use similar things in dive training because you can get the same effect if you just use a pen with a hole at the end. or a small pipe with a hole. if your interested in such training methods a more effective way might be to try hypoxic swimming or training at high altitudes. that way your body gets used to recieving less o2 and functions better when you do get a normal amount. I dont have any experience with this particular device but can you run with it or train with it? do a google search on freediving dive tables if your interested in such training. i think it might go well with nhb training. good luck

I'm gonna throw out some anecdotal evidence here, and say that people I know that use the thing swear by it. It should be noted that all of these people are hardcore swimmers. I haven't run across anyone from any other sport that uses one, so I really don't have anyway to compare it across sports. The biggest reason they swear by it is that it helps with breath holding, which means they get to stay under water longer, which helps stroke effeciency."Keep a sharp knife, shiny boots and be on time."
