    I get this sometimes when I'm awake too. It's happened to me when I'm running, or basically spending a lot of time standing on my toes.

    I used to do that when I was running at uni with no money.. IIRC the theory was sports drinks are 7% sugar solution and orange juice is 14% so you dilute it 50/50 with water and you have a poor mans sports drink.

    Cuz table salt is usually enriched with iodine whereas sea salt is not. I don't think that relevant anymore (to people who eat well and take supplements that is.)

    Long ago, goiter was an issue, and people (at least in my country) developed a phobia of all salts that were not iodine-enriched. In folk tradition, sea salt == no iodine == goiter. Goiter has been almost gone after decades of fortifying salt (and thus most food prepared with it) with iodine.

    As a mention, severe leg cramps can be a symptom of hypothyroidism (among other things like metal poisoning). Assuming your diet, water intake, and whatnot is in order, you may want to discuss this further with a physician instead of anonymous internet fuckwits like myself.

    The advice I got in the linked thread is similar to the current; and it worked. I tested it out with a massive (for me) leg presses, extensions and such one night and had no problems. If the cramps continue despite hydration, bananas, and calcium/potassium/magnesium suppliments (electrolite ballance), a visit to a Dr. (in sports medicine?) may be a good idea.

    Oh, and maybe stretching and warm-downs and light exercise before hitting the sack - like walking or biking.
