Depending on wether you're fighting real muay thai rules or... "thai boxing" or whatever they call it, throws do count, but the scoring in muay thai is a little cooky and hard to follow. They don't really count points for individual throws, but it makes a big difference as far as who won the round as they score for opponents being off balanced and what not.

IIRC you have to be off several times to lose outright, but throwing your opponent off the lei tai (or out of the matted area onto different coloured mats at comps that couldn't get hold of a lei tai) counts for a lot of points.

Sanda is complete Crap. What you want is San Shou, which is fifty times better (in Mandarin, "San Shou" means literally "Fifty times better than that Sanda Bullshit").

Okay, so, forget that. Sanda, from all I've seen of it, looks very effective. Sanda + Sub Grappling = win.
"[Fighting for Points] is doubtless very pretty, and invariably draws applause, but preferences should always be given to blows that do some business, to good straight hits that do something toward finishing the fight.

Is there any difference between Sanda and Sanshou? At least for people speaking chinese there doesn't seem to be any difference.

    Please educate me.
