Striking vs. Grappling

What are you thoughts about striking while the grappler opens himself up to grapple you? When I watch clips of grapplers they tend to leave themselves wide open for knees to the face and punches to the base of the scull etc. I kindly ask that fanboy comments be left out of this thread. Please don't flame.:biggrin:

Actually, what the OP says is true. One time I met Royce Gracie at a Chinese Buffet, and I laughed at him for picking the broccoli chicken. He tried to take me down, but in doing so he left himself open to knees to the face and punches to the back of the scull, just like that dude said. I took advantage of this by throwing a plateful of General Tso's Chicken into his face. The plate fell on the floor and shattered into many pieces. Royce saw the broken shards of whatever the hell they make those plates out of on the ground and pissed himself, because he knew he was now helpless. TKD wins again!
