    Wing Chun NYC

Hey guys, check these videos out and tell me what you think. I think they're on the right track to bringing wing chun out of the hole it's in right now. If only they did some freesparring...apparently it's still too dangerous. Either that, or they can't afford insurance and/or sparring gear...

I think Wing Chun sucks Satan's cock. I think this because it stole 9 years of my life, scientology-style. I don't know why you posted this stack of cocksmoke, care to explain exactly what you think is good about it?

RunningDog, remember to breathe. Go inside your cave and find your power animal...

And just remember, you can armbar the **** out of each and every one of them.

That's a comfort to me Vicious, a real comfort. I thank you.

I watched one half way through. Didn't look as bad as others I have seen, except when one guy blocked a high kick with his knee like it was a low kick. Still no sparring = crap.

    Dark:

I see nothing there that differentiates that _ing _un from any other I've seen. All I see are static drills with compliant partners. The drills that come the closest to being "alive" aren't really. They're just one person throwing a crappy technique (horribly telegraphing it) and the other person countering with deerfighting patty-cake.

I don't think anyone here will be convinced _ing _un is on the right track until we see full-on sparring with _ing _un techniques. Show me that a bong sau can work against a person trying to remove your head. Show me that a taun sao can actually stop a boxer's hook with full force behind it. Show me that a _ing _un vertical-fist punch can 1) connect and 2) do damage in real sparring comparable to a regular jab, cross or hook.

I think that _ing _un is critically flawed from the get-go. I just don't buy it's method of simultaneous attack and defense or its method of punching. People just end up chasing punches with their taun or gong or bong or whatever the hell. I know, I used to do it (yes Oprah, this is my confession). That method also assumes (according to the way they practice) that your attacker will be so overwhelmed with your deerpunching that you will crumble and stop fighting. And then there's the eyepokes.

I just see nothing new in those videos and I feel cheated out of several minutes after watching them.

I like how in the first video, the lecture, teacher says that Yip Man told him that there is something of value in every martial art . . ."even boxing."

I thought we had established that boxing is not a martial art.

I mean, where are the scrolls?
